Q&A With American Ballerina Maggie Fosselius

I had the opportunity recently to ask Maggie Fosselius some questions about her journey as a ballerina. She is a wonderful dancer, she dances so beautifully and elegantly. Her dedication and passion for ballet is unmatched.

Q1: When did you start ballet?

l started ballet when l was three years old.

Q2: Where do you currently dance?

l currently dance at International Youth ballet school in Denver, Colorado.

Q3: How long have you been en pointe for?

l’ve been en pointe for about 6 years.

Q4: What pointe shoes do you currently wear?

l’ve tried almost every shoe out there, and I’m currently wearing Russian Pointe Rubins.

Q5: How did you first get involved in ballet?

My mom put me in a ballet class because l had so much energy l and was really bad at soccer.

Q6: What is your favourite variation?

I love so many variations but I think my favorite is Kitri act 3

Q7: What company would you love to work for?

ABT or New York City Ballet.

Q8: Do you have a favourite memory/moment in ballet?

My favorite memory in ballet is probably going to Pittsburgh Ballet theatre’s summer intensive last summer!

Q9: Who are your ballet roles models? Dancers that inspire you.

Tiler peck, Misty Copeland, and Svetlana of course!

Q10: Best advice you’ve ever received from a teacher?

One of my teachers once told me that “no matter what happens on stage, the show goes on,” and that has come in handy in so many situations!!

Q11: Classical or romantic tutu?

Romantic all the way. I love the way they twirl around you when turning.

Q12: What do you like to do when you aren’t dancing (your free time)?

I love to bake and cook. I also love to travel.
