I recently had the opportunity to ask Jessey Y some questions about her wonderful journey as a ballerina. She graces the stage so elegantly and with poise and grace, her dedication and passion for ballet is incredible. Below are her responses.
Q1: When did you start ballet?
When I was 8
Q2: Where do you currently dance?
I go to a ballet school in Ontario Canada
Q3: How long have you been en pointe for?
6 years

Q5: How did you first get involved in ballet?
My mom used to be a figure skater and now she’s a judge. She wanted to me to become a figure skater as well, but she understood that ballet is a fundamental of Figure Skating. We couldn’t find good ballet school where I lived so I started rhythmic gymnastics when I was in first grade. My coach told me that whether I want to become a rhythmic gymnast or figure skater, I need to take ballet classes, so I joined the new ballet school that opened in my neighbourhood. Since then, I’ve been doing ballet.
Q6: What is your favourite variation?

Q7: What company would you love to work for?
My dream is Royal Danish Ballet, but I’d love to work for any kind of Ballet company because at the end of the day, if I can Dance and share the love for ballet with others, that’s all I wantđź’•
Q8: Do you have a favourite memory/moment in ballet?
When I got accepted to Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and when I was Clara in Nutcracker and went on tour.
Q9: Who are your ballet roles models? Dancers that inspire you.
Every dancers who put so much effort and work hard every day whether they’re students or professionals.
Q10: Best advice you’ve ever received from a teacher?
“Dance for yourself and enjoy every moment that you’re on stage”

Classical
Q12: What do you like to do when you aren’t dancing (your free time)?
It kind of sound lazy but sleep and eat and take pictures
