I recently had the opportunity to ask Ashley Forche some questions about her incredible journey as a ballerina. Ashley is a phenomenal dancer, she graces the stage with poise and beauty. Her dedication and love of ballet is immense. Below are her responses.
Q1: When did you start ballet?
I took Ballet when I was younger, but I was also really focused on soccer and school through my younger years. I didn’t start pursuing Ballet seriously until around 16 years old.
Q2: Where do you currently dance?
This past season I was a trainee with Nashville Ballet in Tennessee.
Q3: How long have you been en pointe for?
4 years
Q4: What pointe shoes do you currently wear?
I always thought ballerinas possessed this other worldly beauty and generosity, and that was something I wanted to cultivate within myself. That’s what drew me to Ballet.
Q5: How did you first get involved in ballet?
I always thought ballerinas possessed this other worldly beauty and generosity, and that was something I wanted to cultivate within myself. That’s what drew me to Ballet.
Q6: What is your favourite variation?
My favorite variation has to be the second girl variation from Swan Lake pas de trois.
Q7: What company would you love to work for?
Honestly it would be a dream to dance with any company, just to get to do this every day is a gift. I love both classical and contemporary work, so ideally I’d love to work in a company with mixed rep.
Q8: Do you have a favourite memory/moment in ballet?
All of the moments I’ve had on stage are really treasured. I’ve made so many amazing friends and had so many inspirational teachers over the years, so I just treasure all of those wonderful moments.
Q9: Who are your ballet roles models? Dancers that inspire you.
Wow there are so many dancers that inspire me. Some favorites include Mollie Sansone, Carla Korbes, Tiler Peck, and Wendy Whelan.
Q10: Best advice you’ve ever received from a teacher?
The best advice I’ve ever received is to always “do what you think it is” and do so with confidence and conviction (even if you’re wrong).
Q11: Classical or romantic tutu?
Classical!
Q12: What do you like to do when you aren’t dancing (your free time)?
I love to run, hike, and do yoga. I also love to read and write and hang out with my friends and family. I’m an avid foodie and enjoy trying new restaurants and coffee shops!!
