Q&A With Australian Ballerina Rose Dalton

I recently had the chance to ask Rose Dalton some questions about her incredible journey as a ballerina. Rose is a phenomenal dancer, she takes to the stage with incredible poise, grace and beauty. Her dedication and passion for ballet is unparalleled. Below are her responses.

Q1: When did you start ballet?

I was 4 years old when I started to learn ballet

Q2: Where do you currently dance?

I currently train at the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart Germany

Q3: How long have you been en pointe for?

I started on pointe when I was 11 and a half, so that’s 5 years now!

Q4: What pointe shoes do you currently wear?

At the moment I am wearing both Freed of London and Capezio pointe shoes.

Q5: How did you first get involved in ballet?

I started ballet because my neighbour who was a ballerina suggested to my mum to take me to our local ballet school which I ended up being at for 10 years!

Q6: What is your favourite variation?

There are so many it’s impossible to choose an overall favourite however I particularly love the White Swan variation from Swan Lake!

Q7: What company would you love to work for?

I would really like to work with the Stuttgart Ballet and I do dream of dancing in Russia one day! However in this extremely tough ballet world I would truly be grateful to begin anywhere!

Q8: Do you have a favourite memory/moment in ballet?

My favourite ballet memory is from earlier this year when I danced in Swan Lake with the Stuttgart Ballet! It was my first professional ballet and it was an amazing challenge, experience and feeling to be a swan!

Q9: Who are your ballet roles models? Dancers that inspire you.

My favourite ballet dancers are Svetlana Zakharova and Marianela Nuñez. I also never get used to watching Friedemann Vogel dance!

Q10: Best advice you’ve ever received from a teacher?

Probably just to “be yourself” because we are all different and there is something special unique about every dancer. In other words never try to be somebody you are not because that person is already taken!

Q11: Classical or romantic tutu?

Classical!

Q12: What do you like to do when you aren’t dancing (your free time)?

I like to spend time with my friends, go for walks and explore new places!
