I recently had the opportunity to ask Hailey Fairhurst some questions about her incredible journey as a ballerina. Hailey is an amazing dancer. She takes to the stage with incredible poise and elegance. Her passion and love for ballet is unmatched. Below are her responses.
Q1: When did you start ballet?
When I was 9 I really started focusing more on ballet! I always did tap and jazz too but always loved ballet.
Q2: Where do you currently dance?
Integrarte PrePro program, owned by Erica Cornejo and Carlos Molina
Q3: How long have you been en pointe for?
About 5 years
Q4: What pointe shoes do you currently wear?
I wear them all, but am between Russian Pointes, Freeds, and Gaynors right now!
Q5: How did you first get involved in ballet?
I used to watch the older girls dance and fell in love! And the rest is history…
Q6: What is your favourite variation?
Lilac Fairy and Odalisque 😍
Q7: What company would you love to work for?
ABT, Royal, or anyplace that will take me!!!!
Q8: Do you have a favourite memory/moment in ballet?
Definitely my time with Gene Schiavone, ABT photographer, who I have worked with many times. But my favorite time with him was when he gave me tickets to see ABT perform Sleeing Beauty at Lincoln Center! We had dinner at the Met first and a backstage tour. It was an amazing night I will never forget! So grateful for him.
Q9: Who are your ballet roles models? Dancers that inspire you.
Definitely my teacher Erica! She is performs with such joy! And always Ashley Ellis! She is my inspiration everyday! She works hard and is kind and I hope to follow in her footsteps one day!
Q10: Best advice you’ve ever received from a teacher?
Smile, breathe; and love it 😍 from my teacher growing up!
Q11: Classical or romantic tutu?
Ohhhh so tough!!! Allll the tutus!!!! But I love a classical tutu 💕
Q12: What do you like to do when you aren’t dancing (your free time)?
I spend time with my family since I dance so many hours and don’t get to spend a lot of time with them! I also love my friends and love spending time with them!
