Q&A With Australian Ballerina Alisa Timofeeva

I had the chance recently to ask Alisa Timofeeva some questions about her journey as a ballerina. Alisa is an excellent dancer, she graces the stage with poise and grace. Her passion and love for ballet is amazing, Below are her responses.

Q1: When did you start ballet?

I started ballet when I was 9, which is quite later considering some have been going from 2 years old.

Q2: Where do you currently dance?

I am currently dancing full time at Queensland National Ballet

Q3: How long have you been en pointe for?

I started pointe when I was 12 years old, so I have been on pointe for over 3 years now.

Q4: What pointe shoes do you currently wear?

I currently wear Grishko 2007.

Q5: How did you first get involved in ballet?

I idolised the idea of dancing en pointe, which motivated me to start ballet. Since that day I have been in love with ballet.

Q6: What is your favourite variation?

My favourite variation is Aurora Act III

Q7: What company would you love to work for?

I love so many companies, especially in Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland. I probably wouldn’t be able to choose one I would love to work for as there are so many.

Q8: Do you have a favourite memory/moment in ballet?

My absolute favourite memory was going en pointe and going to the dance store to get them. I was so excited and knew that everything that was coming was going to be great.

Q9: Who are your ballet roles models? Dancers that inspire you.

There are so many ballerinas who inspire me including Svetlana Zaharova, Natalia Osipova,Maria Khoreva

Q10: Best advice you’ve ever received from a teacher?

My best piece of advice would probably be to learn every role and piece, even if you dont think you need to as injuries happen and you want to be the dancer chosen to fill in because you know the roles well 😊

Q11: Classical or romantic tutu?

Classical tutu 100%

Q12: What do you like to do when you aren’t dancing (your free time)?

I like hanging out with my friends and spending time with my family. Because dancing takes up so much time, I rarely get to spend lots of time with family and friends.
