Q&A With Australian Ballerina Molly McCarthy

I had the chance recently to ask Molly McCarthy some questions about her amazing journey as a ballerina. Molly is an incredible ballerina. She graces the stage with incredible elegance and poise, her passion and dedication for ballet is unmatched. Below are her responses.

Q1: When did you start ballet?

I started classical ballet at the age of 2

Q2: Where do you currently dance?

I currently dance at Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy in Sydney Australia

Q3: How long have you been en pointe for?

I’ve been on pointe for about 6 years now

Q4: What pointe shoes do you currently wear?

I currently wear Energetic pointe shoes

Q5: How did you first get involved in ballet?

When I was young I used to dance around the house all day, so my parents decided ballet would be a great thing to start

Q6: What is your favourite variation?

My favourite variation would be Tchaikovsky Pas De Deux and Cupid

Q7: What company would you love to work for?

There are so many amazing companies but I love to watch Royal Ballet Company and the Australian Ballet Company perform

Q8: Do you have a favourite memory/moment in ballet?

Performing on stage doing the lead role in Nutcracker

Q9: Who are your ballet roles models? Dancers that inspire you.

Mariners Nunez! But also icons like Sylvie, Sarah lamb and Iana Salenko

Q10: Best advice you’ve ever received from a teacher?

Dance to express not impress

Q11: Classical or romantic tutu?

Love both!

Q12: What do you like to do when you aren’t dancing (your free time)?

I love to do Pilates, yoga, walk, travel to new places and spend time with family and friends.
