Q&A With Australian Ballerina Abby Morgan

I recently had the chance to ask Abby Morgan some questions about her incredible journey as a ballerina. Abby is a phenomenal dancer, she graces the stage with incredible poise and grace, her passion and dedication for ballet is remarkable. Below are her responses.

Q1: When did you start ballet?

I started ballet when I was 4 but it was just a hobby for me until I was 12 then i realised I wanted to hopefully make a career out of it one day

Q2: Where do you currently dance?

I currently dance at The Royal Ballet School in London but before I moved to London I danced at Classical Coaching Australia, in Brisbane Australia

Q3: How long have you been en pointe for?

I went en pointe when I was 12.5 so 5 years

Q4: What pointe shoes do you currently wear?

I switch between Energetiks and Freed of London

Q5: How did you first get involved in ballet?

When I was younger I was very clumsy so my mum put me in ballet to help to try and improve my clumsiness but it didn’t really help, I’m still clumsy! 😂

Q6: What is your favourite variation?

I have so many variations that I love so one of my favourite is Tchaikovsky pas de deux

Q7: What company would you love to work for?

I would honestly be over the moon to work with any company, as long as I’m dancing I am happy

Q8: Do you have a favourite memory/moment in ballet?

My favourite ballet memory is when I found out I got into the Prix de Lausanne competition as it was always a dream for me.

Q9: Who are your ballet roles models? Dancers that inspire you.

Marianela Nunez inspires me and also Alina Cojocaru

Q10: Best advice you’ve ever received from a teacher?

There was a teacher that didn’t teach me for very long but she was an ex dancer in Vienna State Opera and San Francisco Ballet and she told me to never say no and although that may not make a whole lot of sense to everyone I understood what she was saying and will remember that for as long as I am dancing

Q11: Classical or romantic tutu?

Probably Classical

Q12: What do you like to do when you aren’t dancing (your free time)?

I like to be with my friends and go shopping or just relax
