I recently had the opportunity to ask Chloe Young some questions about her journey as a dancer, more specifically her time as a ballerina. Chloe is an amazing dancer, when she takes to the stage, she graces it with poise, strength and elegance. Her passion for dance is unparalleled. Below are her responses.
Q1: When did you start ballet?
I started dancing at the age of 2 and then progressed to full time ballet training at the age of 15. I then did a pre professional year with Sydney dance company at age 18.
Q2: Where do you currently dance?
I am a a trainee with Sydney dance company currently.
Q3: How long have you been en pointe for?
My repertoire doesn’t include pointe but I have danced en pointe for about 8 years.
Q4: What pointe shoes do you currently wear?
I don’t currently wear pointe shoes. My last pair was groshko 2007
Q5: How did you first get involved in ballet?
I first got introduced to ballet from dance school. All of my siblings danced and I grown up dancing and I found a real passion to continue dancing further which is why I went full time
Q6: What is your favourite variation?
My favourite variation to watch and my favourite variation to dance would be very different.
Q7: What company would you love to work for?
I am very happy with where I am now when ch is with Sydney dance company
Q8: Do you have a favourite memory/moment in ballet?
I had lots of great moments with ballet and just all moments when I’m happy and healthy
Q9: Who are your ballet roles models? Dancers that inspire you.
Growing up I loved many of the Russian ballerinas. I was so inspired by each and everyone
Q10: Best advice you’ve ever received from a teacher?
Person first, artist second and dancer third. This was said by my amazing course director from pre professional year at Sydney dance company, Linda Gamblin

Classical tutu
Q12: What do you like to do when you aren’t dancing (your free time)?
If I’m on tour I love to explore the cities we are in and see as much as I can. If I’m at home I love to just put on some Netflix and really just relax
